Known mostly for lemurs, vanilla and one of the world's poorest economies, Madagascar is not often associated with cutting-edge art. But a new exhibit in the capital, Antananarivo, could change that perception. Entitled "30 et presque-songes," the show features the work of 30 world-class artists from Madagascar, mainland Africa and Europe, all brought together by Paris-based Malagasy artist Joel Andrianomearisoa. In a variety of media - installation, video, photography, painting - each artist explores the interactions of Malagasy and foreign artists with Andrianomearisoa himself, Madagascar and Africa in general. On until Oct. 20 at the Zone Zital Ankorondrano.
